Biography:
Frank Costilla is the senior partner at the Law Office of Frank
Costilla. Born in Brady, Texas in 1946, and reared in Brownwood,
Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam
war era and was honorably discharged in 1973. Mr. Costilla
received his legal education from the University of Iowa College
of Law and was admitted to the the Iowa Bar in 1977. In 1978 Mr.
Costilla came to Brownsville, Texas to live, work and raise his
family. Mr. Costilla is a Fulbright-Hayes Scholar and “AV” rated
lawyer in Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. He is listed among
the “Preeminent Lawyers” in the United States in the personal
injury litigation field by the Martindale-Hubbell Bar
Register.
Mr. Costilla is a leader in his community serving on numerous
boards and committees and holding public office in Cameron
County as the Democratic Chairman of his party for two terms.
Mr. Costilla is a frequent speaker at local, state and national
Continuing Legal Education programs and seminars on personal
injury litigation topics. He is a faculty member of the Trial
Advocacy College of Texas.
During over twenty seven (27) years of practice Mr. Costilla has
tried jury cases involving virtually all areas of serious
personal or fatal injuries, including worker’s compensation,
products liability, medical malpractice, insurance abuse,
asbestos, premises, and automobile, train and truck collisions.
Mr. Costilla’s practice is primarily a personal injury and civil
trial practice.
Memberships:
Mr. Costilla is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Cameron
County Bar Association, The Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA)
serving as Director and now Director Emeritus, The Association
of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), and the International
Society of Barristers.
He is
also a charter member of the Rio Grande Valley Texas Chapter of The
American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Recognition and Awards
The Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism and the
Cameron County Bar Association awarded Frank Costilla The Texas
Center Professionalism Award in 2004; and Texas Monthly Magazine
named him as a Texas “Super Lawyer” in 2005.
